"HANDS" teams up with other non-profits to use State, Local, Federal and Grant money to build new establishments.
The agency has gotten so large, a new executive director took over.
"The primary mission that HANDS is develop, construct, affordable housing multi-family renting or home ownership." In fact, HANDS, The Bowling Green housing authority and the city are making the construction of 26 new houses in the Shakerag district in Bowling Green possible. "That's bordered by State, College, 2nd street, and 3rd." The new housing developments on Adams Street are also the handiwork of these agencies.
Debroah Williams has been involved in Community Development work for years.
She sees partnerships with other non-profits vital to her agency's success.
The latest project will be breaking ground soon.
HANDS, Warren County Government and several other community partners are building "The Tomorrow Center" also located on Adams Street.
"We have a home ownership center in there a learning center ... within the next 30 days will be the first phase -- we will have it fully going in the next 6 months. " The Tomorrow Center, which is located in the old Health Department that's sat vacant for years, still needs to be cleaned up.
Before the center can provide services to non profit agencies, a clean-up day has been designated by the leadership Bowling Green Alumni Association.
It will be on April 21st and 22nd from 9:00AM until 4:00PM
The tomorrow center is located on 1133 Adams Street in Bowling Green.
