According to the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Forbes Magazine lists Bowling Green as number 12 in a number of cities for "Best Small Places for Business and Careers."
We decided to find out more from a local business that started small and has continued to grow.
On 31-W, there are many farms, and even some, like Chaney's, that were there in the late 1800's when the main highway was only cobblestone.
"We've been in Bowling Green for so long that I really don't know much about anywhere else, but Bowling Green has very caring people," said Carl Chaney, owner of Chaney's Dairy Barn, along with his wife.
It's those caring people that have made Chaney's Dairy Barn productive since 2003, after an idea the Chaney's had in 2001.
"We went around to see these other people, see what they were doing, and decided that Bowling Green would be the perfect place for an ice cream store," said Carl Chaney.
According to the Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Elaine Walker believes Bowling Green's new ranking is true due to many factors, including a supportive community.
"They're people who will work with you, and once they become a customer of you, they stay with you," said Carl Chaney.
And Carl Chaney agrees that Bowling Green's ranking is true.
"Oh, no question. No question," said Carl Chaney. "It's just the warmth of the people. Our unemployment rate is relatively low to the nation. The economy I know overall is hurting, and we've hurt a little bit this year, but if you look throughout the United States, Bowling Green is probably just a step ahead of anywhere else."
And recently, some customers appreciated their Chaney's experience so much they helped the farm make a top ten list on ABC's Good Morning America.
"There were probably two or three people that really did a fantastic job of nominating us as one of the top 'Small Scoop Stores' in the United States, so we were really fortunate in that respect," said Carl Chaney.
Chaney says they have many plans for the future, and business doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon.
