State officials approved tuition raises Wednesday at five Kentucky colleges, including a raise for Western Kentucky University students.
Kentucky's Council on Post secondary Education approved the increased rates for the 2006-07 school year at U-of-L, Eastern, Western and Northern Kentucky universities and Kentucky State.
The in-state rate hike was the highest at the University of Louisville. The council approved an annual rate of $6,252, an increase of $720.
Tuition at Eastern Kentucky University will rise 11.4 percent, with Kentucky State's going up 10.8 percent. Northern Kentucky students will see a 9.6 percent increase, while students at Western will pay 10.2 percent more to go to school next year.
The council is scheduled to meet May 22 to vote on a proposed tuition increase at Murray State.
Last month, the council approved rate hikes at the University of Kentucky, Morehead State and Kentucky's Community and Technical colleges.
