The Cincinnati Reds held a tryout this week in Mayfield, Kentucky.

The odds are slim for making it to the big leagues, but one athlete has been working to beat the odds his whole life.

Tony Smith, a 19-year-old from Olive Branch, Illinois was born without a right hand, but that hasn't kept him from becoming a left-handed pitcher.

He was one of 47 ballplayers to take the field with the dream of playing Major League Baseball.

Although he doesn't expect to be part of the Reds organization this season, Smith is hoping to play college baseball and says the tryout showed him what areas he needs to work on.
