Governor Appeals FEMA Decision

Just one week after storms struck South Central Kentucky, Gov. Fletcher announces he will appeal a decision by FEMA, denying his request for major disaster declaration for the state.

Gov. Fletcher specifically requested individual assistance for Christian County which was hit nearly two weeks ago by an F-3 tornado. He also requested hazard mitigation for the entire state.

FEMA says they determined the damage to the private sector from the storms was not beyond the capabilities of the commonwealth.

Fletcher toured the damaged areas this week and strongly disagrees with FEMA's assessment. The governor has already begun the process of the appeal.
