Mine Safety

Union Members are demanding the Federal Government toughen up on mine safety standards.
Members of the United MIne Workers of America say the Mine Safety and Health Administration can do more to prevent mining deaths, like the 12 who died at the Sago Mine in West Virginia.
They addressed Government Officials yesterday at a public hearing in Lexington.
There have been 26 mining deaths in the country this year, including two last week in Kentucky.
A final version of the safety regulation will be issued next year after the public comments are taken into consideration.
