A former Hopkinsville Police captain is arrested on a felony charge.

The Kentucky State Police Special Investigations West Branch say they arrested 45-year-old Monte Strode of Pembroke on one count of tampering with physical evidence.

Strode's charges allegedly stems from an offense dating back to August 17 of last year.

Strode was lodged in the Christian County Jail.

No further information is being released as the investigation continues.

I've met Monte Strode and he is a good man. He has served this community with a spotless record for almost 20 years. He went not so much by the letter of the law, but by his heart. I don't know what happened, but I can tell you Monte did nothing wrong. If he did indeed make a mistake he meant no harm to Anyone, it was simply an error in judgement. Monte was a top notch Captain and was truly one of Hopkinsville's finest. Whatever happened was last year and caused him so much distress that he resigned. Shouldn't that be the end of the story? He has suffered enough, now charges brought against him? I think Hopkinsville owes Monte a debt of gratitude. If he did make a mistake they owe him the chance to get on with his life the way he has given so many people a second chance. My prayers are with him and his family and I hope the powers that be show him the same kindness that he always showed others. There are good cops and bad cops. Monte was one of the priceless good ones.

Monte Strode is a loving father and was a good captain. I know after everything has been said and done he will be found innocent of all charges. Monte and his family are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult and trying time.
