Bowling Green Police are looking for two people to question in connection with an accident and possible shooting that happened Sunday night.

Around 11:35 Sunday night, officers responded to a report of shots fired on Coombs Drive.

On the scene, authorities found an overturned, abandoned 2000 Ford Explorer as well as six spent nine millimeter casings. The owner of the SUV has been contacted and says the vehicle had been borrowed.

As details continue to emerge, area residents remain concerned.

"I'm just used to hearing the traffic and the boom, boom with these young guys and these cars," says resident Patricia Bryent. "Last night and this morning was a different kind of boom, boom."

Patricia's been keeping an eye on her Coombs Drive neighborhood. "I live over here by myself, and I don't open my doors for anything for my own protection," she says.

Last night, she forced herself outside to witness the scene after a 2000 Ford Explorer raced off of Ragland Way onto Coombs Drive. Several shots fired and the SUV wound up overturned just feet from Patricia's home.

"I thought it was in my yard," Patricia remembers. "Police just walking up and down the street. One of them came over into my yard. He says, 'We've had a bypass shooting'. I say,'Bypass shooting?' We don’t ever have anything like that over here. This is a quiet neighborhood."

For Patricia, there remain several frightening reminders of last night. Today, she has a very specific reason why she hopes this sort of violence doesn't happen on Coombs Drive again.

"We have a lot of young people in this area," she says. "A bullet doesn’t have any eyes, and it can go straight through a home and kill somebody. I hope none of this continues to go on in our neighborhood or anywhere else in Bowling Green. It's always been a peaceful and quiet town."

If you have any further information, please contact the Bowling Green Police Department at 393-4000.
