Motel Death Ruled Homicide

Authorities now say the woman whose body was found in a Franklin motel back in January was murdered.

Toxicology reports show 38-year-old Kimberly Renea Hammonds of Portland, Tennessee died of asphyxiation.

She was found dead at the Franklin Econo-Lodge on Sunday January 8.

A man who had been with Hammonds was later arrested in Indiana and had her purse in his possession at the time.

He was wanted on escape charges out of Wyoming.

Kentucky State Police are conducting the investigation.

They say the man is still considered a person of interest not a suspect.
