Police continue their search for a man who robbed a bank in Glasgow Tuesday morning.

At 9:30 a.m. yesterday, a man escaped by foot after robbing the South Central Bank on 31-E of an undetermined amount of money. It's an area that's surrounded by several businesses, a residential area, and a lot of concerned people.

"I've been in Glasgow working for 15 years now, Glasgow's a great town," says frequent Glasgow visitor Lee Pinson.

There's a lot of noise blasting through this intersection off South Fork Road, but area residents will tell you, it's been perfectly calm here until yesterday.

"Me and pa seen some cops over there and some FBI people," says Paul Wells. "The guy we were working for told us there was a bank robbery."

"We were busy, everyone was asking what was going on over there," remembers 31-E Shell station manager T.C. Huddleston. "A lot of commotion. There were a lot of cop cars."

Residents say that's a scene uncommon for Glasgow.

"It is, actually," Huddleston says. "I was born and raised in Glasgow. I'm 23 years old and I've never heard of any robbery. It kinda took me off guard."

At the same time, Huddleston's not surprised.

"It's not a high traffic area, normally," he says. "The main customers you get are off the interstate. It makes it a little bit easier, more accessible for criminals."

Those out and about say they hope that's not the case, and that this area returns to being noisy but perfectly calm.

"I've never heard of a lot of problems in Glasgow," Pinson concludes. "I feel like I could probably leave my car door open at night and probably my door at home. As this sort of thing keeps going on, you think twice about doing that."

The man involved in the South Central Bank robbery is described as a white male with red hair and freckles.

He is believed to be in his early to mid-20's between 5'10 and 6'2. He was last seen wearing a button up shirt with stripes and a white ball cap. If you have any information about this robbery, call the Glasgow police department at 270-651-5151.
