The Holiday World & Splashin' Safari amusement park is announcing plans for a 4.3 million dollar water ride that park owners say will be the tallest of its kind in the world.

Holiday World president Will Koch (COOK) says the Pilgrim's Plunge ride is set to open next spring at the southern Indiana theme park.

The ride will use an open elevator to lift 10-passenger boats 135 feet into the air and send them down a chute for a 45-degree angle descent.

Koch says that when the boat hits the water at up to 50 miles per hour, it will create a wall of water that will splash 45 feet high.

The 2-minute, 40-second ride will cover an area the size of two football fields.
