Western Kentucky University finds new ways to "go green" and help students get around this year.
The Velorution Bike Festival started on September 3 on WKU's south lawn.
It's an effort to promote more cycling on campus and less cars.
Organizers say they hope this car free initiative to alternative transportation will allow students to see how they can benefit by both saving money and exercising.
"With the situation with the environment and the economy we are trying to do what we can to promote a more healthy lifestyle for individuals and the earth also," said Anne Ellis, WKU's bike support coordinator.
WKU Greentoppers will hold its second kickoff event tomorrow night at 6:00.
President Gary Ransdell is expected to ride his bike from Guthrie Tower to Fountain Square Park and back.
