Murder Retrial Results in Death Penalty

It took a Warren Circuit Court jury less than 45 minutes to find Phillip Brown "guilty" of the murder of 36-year-old Sherry Bland of Columbia in January of 2001. They also convicted brown of robbery and burglary in the incident.

Brown was originally convicted of this murder in 2003, but the Kentucky Supreme Court ordered a new trial, saying some evidence had been wrongly excluded from the case.

Brown was sentenced to "life without the possibility of parole for 25 years" that time, but this time the jury gave Brown the death penalty.
