A total of 6,500 people are still without power in Muhlenberg County in the wake of Hurricane Ike.

The Muhlenberg County Water District #1 in Greenville went without power to supply water to their tanks on Monday, meaning their customers went without water for a period of time.

County Judge Executive Rick Newman says an end to the county's power outages is in sight.

There's only a light breeze in Muhlenberg County, but taking a look behind the serene setting, you're likely to find a reminder of Hurricane Ike.

"Pretty bad," says resident Clyde Vincent. "I'd got up to go to church, me and my wife did. I come out to get the car out of the garage, and it liked to blow me down. I said ‘I'm not goin’!"

Clyde Vincent hasn't been far away from home in two days. His work's been quicker, thanks to two great grandsons who say no job is too big.

"They came over so I thought I'd put ‘em to work," Clyde laughs.

There's plenty to do thanks to the winds.

"Trees fell down and leaves fell down and limbs," says Clyde's 7-year-old great grandson, Caleb.

These guys aren't alone in doing yard work today.

"Got home to find it looks like a tornado's been through my yard and my house," says resident Ronnie Wilcox. "We've got some power lines out down. In Central City, they've got no power at all."

Those power outages have changed Central City's flow of traffic in addition to closing down several stores in the county, but electricity could be back soon.

"They have told us that their best estimate was 72 hours from this morning," says Muhlenberg County Judge Executive Rick Newman. "Everyone should be back with power."

Though it'll be a while before electricity's back and every limb's placed on the curb, Clyde says he doesn't mind the wait as long as he's got his help.

"They'll try anything, them two will," says Clyde.
