The movie "The Davinci Code" is causing controversy worldwide.
It centers around the theory that Jesus married and fathered a child with Mary Magdalene.
Despite the controversial reviews however, the movies seems to be a hit with many moviegoers.
"It was very good. It wasn't anything to deal with just a religious attitude. It left you with your own beliefs", says moviegoer Mary Taylor.
I think it was an excellent movie and I read the novel and it was very true to the novel", says moviegoer Michele LeNoir.
LeNoir attended the movie with her family and members from her church. Unlike many critics who have denounced the movie, LeNoir seemed to enjoy it.
"I'm really surprised by the controversy because this is fiction and I think that is what people are forgetting. It's a movie. It's fiction", says LeNoir.
The movie made 77 million dollars in North American theaters for it's opening weekend and 224 million worldwide.
The total makes it the biggest debut of the year at the domestic box office and the film's success also marked the biggest opening ever for its star Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard.
