Governor Beshear was on a tour of western Kentucky today, starting in Marshall County, followed by a trip to Muhlenberg County, and then finishing up in Daviess County.
It was an effort to talk to officials in each area about what they need to solve the power outages that continue to plague the Commonwealth.
"After Sunday night when this windstorm came through, we had over five hundred thousand customers without power in Kentucky and that was a record in terms of an outage in Kentucky", said Governor Beshear.
It's a gathering at the Muhlenberg County Courthouse where Governor Steve Beshear's discussing the status of families like Buddy Van's.
"We've been without power since 10 o'clock Sunday... and it's very very hard getting our granddaughter ready for school in the morning in the dark", said Van.
"You come up at the end of Powderly and they have power, but you come up in their area and they have no power whatsoever", said Charlotte Gibens.
That's a problem that's led Charlotte back to Powderly again and again - bringing food to help out Buddy's family.
But Governor Beshear says he's been keeping Muhlenberg County in mind.
"I know here in Muhlenberg County, we got a generator here because they did not have backup power in their water system because they were going to lose their water around here in Central City. And we were able to avoid that by getting a generator to them", said Governor Beshear.
And until the electricity's back to all Kentucky homes....
"As of right now... We're just in the dark."
"No electricity... No power and nothing to eat... It's just really hard on them."
Governor Beshear's just requesting patience.
"For the most part... I have to ask them to be patient because it's going to take a little time for the utility companies to get all this done... but we're working very hard and doing everything we can from a state level and I know the local officials are doing the same thing to make sure people get their power back", adds Governor Beshear.
If you know someone in Muhlenberg County that may need assistance during this time, call the Red Cross at 338-2818.
