It's a deal. The city is spending $1.75 million to buy a downtown Bowling Green business so it can build Circus Square Park.
Booth, Fire and Safety is the city's latest investment. One they say is needed in order to move forward with an ongoing redevelopment project.
The business, owned by Doug Gorman, is 24,000 square ft. All in all, Gorman says he's pleased with the deal.
"We finalized the offer. The city agreed to the terms and conditions. We each gave some and the deal worked out well."
The business has been at its current location since 1992. The city will give Gorman six months to find a new place. He says he'd like to relocate somewhere downtown.
In the meantime, the Downtown Redevelopment Authority expects to break ground sometime this fall and hopefully complete Circus Square Park next Spring.
The DRA will present a final draft of its plans to the City Commission in June.
