Corvette Recall

By Associated Press |

Thirty-thousand Chevrolet Corvettes are being recalled because a defect could allow detachable roofs to fly off.

General Motors dealerships will provide free inspections and repairs. The recall affects some 2005-2006 models with painted roofs.

A G-M spokesman says the adhesive between the roof panel and magnesium frame may separate. If there's a compete separation, the hard roof panel may detach and could strike another vehicle.

The spokesman says, "You do not want to hit a ten-pound object at 70 miles-per-hour."

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received 21 complaints from owners of the sports car. The problem has not caused any injuries or deaths.
