A major industry in Tompkinsville announced they are closing their doors.
Now, city officials are working hard to fill the void.
Belden CDT employs about 230 people. The company plans to start phasing out employees during the 3rd quarter of this year. The plant will be completely closed by the end of 2007.
Tompkinsville Mayor Windell Carter says this is a major blow to the area.
"Well, we are all trying hard to get industry to locate here and we got some good prospects. We're just going to keep trying and never give up," said Carter.
Carter says this closing follows two others in the 50's Key Industry went under and just a few years ago Kentucky Apparel also closed it's doors.
