Bill Leachman is making great improvements in Vanderbilt's trauma unit.
The owner of Leachman Buick GMC was in a pack of four motorcyclists over the weekend when three of the riders were hit by a drunk driver.
Leachman's wife says her husband is alert and talking. She says he will undergo another surgery tomorrow but that his breathing tube has been removed.
Because of extensive injuries to the lower half of his body, Leachman has had his left leg amputated as well as surgery on his hip. Still the 61-year-old has been upgraded to stable condition.
Lisa Leachman says her heart goes out to the families of Cornelius Martin and Brooks Mitchell who died in the accident.
