3 Charged After Toddler Tied Up In Lawrence Co.

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (AP) -- Three members of a central Kentucky family have been charged with abuse after a 3-year-old girl was tied up for hours at a time.

The State Journal (http://bit.ly/Smahix ) reports from court documents that 64-year-old Carolyn Case, the child's grandmother, and 30-year-old Rebecca Medley, the mother, allegedly tied the girl to her bed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Case told police the child was "getting into things" and was also tied up for naps and discipline.

The documents say 53-year-old Herbert Medley, the child's stepfather, told police he didn't tell because Case threatened to throw them out.

An Anderson County grand jury indicted them Aug. 21 on one count each of first-degree criminal abuse.

It's not clear whether the family has a lawyer. They are due in court Oct. 16.
