BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- Western Kentucky University's Hall of Distinguished Alumni is gaining three new members this fall.
They are musical composer David "Doc" Livingston, Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Rick Loomis and a decorated veteran, retired Col. Gary "Mickey" Riggs.
Inductions are Nov. 7.
Livingston has performed with Billy Vaughn, Louis Armstrong and David Brubeck. His works have been performed by the Ohio State Symphonic Band, the Ohio All-State Band and the Detroit and Oklahoma City symphonies.
Loomis, of the Los Angeles Times, has covered the war in Afghanistan extensively and documented the invasion of both Afghanistan and Iraq. He won a Pulitzer in 2007.
Riggs, a former commander of Western's ROTC program, entered the Army in 1960, serving as a member of the Green Berets and completing four combat tours in Vietnam and Laos.
