Gov. Ernie Fletcher was in Franklin for the groundbreaking of the new Bowling Green Technical College Franklin Center.
It will offer both academic and technical training. The technical college will also partner with Western Kentucky University to offer programs that will allow graduates to work toward a four-year degree.
The center will be located in Sanders Industrial Park, right next to New Mather Metals.
New Mather Metals also had a celebration Monday. The company held a ribbon cutting for its expansion.
Kenton Powell, the plant manager, says since the company began its operations in 2002, it's grown from 100,000 square feet to 300,000 square feet.
It's also grown from 20 employees to 250.
