While the search for Randall Creek continues following the early morning Smiths Grove murder, some may be wondering what went wrong.

Kentucky State Police has been following the case all day.

"The Kentucky State Police this Sunday morning responded to a complaint at 460 Hays Road-North in Smith's Grove," said KSP Trooper Todd Holder of Public Affairs Information.

When KSP arrived on the scene they found 46-year-old Debbie Rediess dead in the driveway of her home.

One eye witness told KSP Rediess had been shot by her former boyfriend, 41-year-old Randall Creek.

"They had been estranged and evidently was supposed to have some type of meeting or something today, and they met and things went terrible wrong somewhere along the meeting," said Trooper Holder.

Creek is a resident of Pirate's Cove Lane in Bowling Green, so police immediately began searching that area early this afternoon.

"We've checked some of his acquaintances' residence," said Trooper Holder. "We've checked his residence, and we've checked his brother's residence, so we've done a thorough search of the Bowling Green area."

Once nothing turned up from nearby searches, they began looking further.

"The U.S. Marshall Service is working with the Kentucky State Police in an attempt to locate him, and they do have a good area that they're searching or looking into," said Trooper Holder.

Creek is a veteran Simpson County Sheriff's Deputy.

"His background is as clean as a whistle, as most officers, you would expect their background to be clean," said Trooper Holder. "His is."

Creek was seen leaving in a 1997 gray Ford Ranger with a military Kentucky tag-- Kentucky 13650.

Creek has black hair and brown eyes.

He's about six-two and weighs around 220-pounds.

Should you have contact with Randall Creek, police advise not to attempt to approach or apprehend him.

Creek is believed to have in his possession at least one handgun and one shotgun.

My deepest sympathies to Debbie's sons, JB and Dustin and to her Mom and Dad. I hope that the law enforcement has the pleasure of catching this guy before he kills himself. He is sick and a danger to the South Central community and needs to pay for what he has done to Debbie and her family. My prayers are with her entire family, she was a fantastic person who loved her sons and grandchild deeply as everyone around her knew. God Bless this family, Debbie will be missed

I knew Randall through his son and he never seemed like the kind that would do this. As they said, his record was clear and something like this is just a freak thing that happened. I also knew Debbie and was her son's friend. She was the kindest person and would do anything for anyone. My prayers are with both families.
