The First Lady of Kentucky names today "Shop and Share" day across the state.

Kroger stores helped take part in the efforts of Jane Beshear as part of "Domestic Violence Awareness Month."

The Junior Woman's Club volunteered at Kroger on the 31-W By-pass by collecting donated items from customers.

Volunteers say donations are always needed, something Mrs. Beshear understands.

"The domestic violence centers are getting very low on what they have to offer their people that stay with them, and she felt that it was a very worthy cause," said Donna Bussey, a volunteer.

All donations will go to the Barren River Area Safe Space, which provides support to victims of domestic violence.

Items collected included food, beauty and hygience products, and cleaning supplies.
