UK ID Theft

A University of Kentucky faculty member is missing a computer drive that contains information about more than 6,000 students and alumni.

The unidentified faculty member reported the device used for storing computer files stolen on May 26. The files listed students enrolled in the faculty members’ classes from 1988 to 2006, along with their Social Security numbers.

An official said the university is trying to contact those possibly affected.

This is UK's second identity theft incident in the last month. The university also reported it unintentionally made personal information of 1,300 current and former employees available to the public in May.
