Triple Homicide

Kentucky State Police say last night Wendell Bratcher of Louisville shot and killed Stanley and Betty Hayse of Caneyville at their home.

Police say Bratcher was the couple's brother-in-law.

Also in the house at the time of shooting was Bratcher's nine-year-old granddaughter who was unharmed.

"It's tragic. I can't imagine as a nine-year-old going through something like this. Your heart just goest out to all the family involved here", says Trooper Steve Pavey of the KSP Elizabethtown Post.

After shooting the couple Bratcher took his granddaughter to her mother's house in Butler County.

He then drove to his mother-in-law Claire Brook's house in Butler County and police say that's when he killed her before turning the gun on himself.

Trooper Steve Pavey says this will be an ongoing investigation.

"We're gonna work this murder, both murder scenes, just like we're looking for somebody. Just because the family is dead doesn't mean we'll say 'oh well, he's dead. Iit doesn't matter'. We're not gonna do that. We'll do it like any other murder scene", says Pavey.

Bratcher's wife was in Lousiville at the time of the shootings.

We'll have much more on this story as the details break.
