Close to sixty people didn't have a job to return to in Morgantown this morning because officials at American Rubber Products plant confirm they are shutting down.
Last fall, rumors of the company's closing began and heated up again over the last few weeks. This morning, plant manager Jeff Hawkins confirmed the plant will not be open after tomorrow. He says only two of 58 employees worked today to wrap things up.
The plant had been in Morgantown since 1989 and once employed up to 70 people. American Rubber manufactured custom molder for automotive rubber goods.
Hawkins says the company has suffered financial problems because of foreign market pressure. He says employees were not given any notice and did not receive severance packages.
American Rubber's New York facility and a division in La Port, Indiana are also closing.
