The Kentucky State Police are still trying to piece together what exactly happened to 32-year-old Tommie Curtis Pridgen.
Pridgen's body was found Monday afternoon in a cornfield at the Intersection of Kentucky 848 and U.S 79 in Guthrie, Kentucky by a man who was spraying the cornfield for weeds.
"The victim was at the edge of the cornfield laying there. The Todd County Emergency Services contacted us yesterday about 12 minutes after 12 in the afternoon, advising that they had a possible deceased subject laying there," says Trooper Stu Recke of KSP.
KSP is awaiting autopsy results in the case...but they do say this death is no accident.
"We don't have a lot to go on. It appears he was shot several times, however we have not recovered a weapon and we have not established a motive at this time."
Trooper Recke of the Kentucky State Police says preliminary reports put the time of death at around 4 Monday morning.
A man who lives less than 100 feet from the corn field... but declined to give his name or be on camera....told WBKO that he heard what sounded like at least one gunshot being fired in the early morning hours.
He also says that when he went to the crime scene hours later he noticed bullet fragments as well as casings from a firearm.
Pridgen's blood was also found on the road.
Trooper Recke says that they are working with the Clarksville, Tennessee Police Department to figure out why Pridgen was killed.
An autopsy is being performed on Pridgen Tuesday and results could come as early as Wednesday.
