Fletcher and a Second Term

By Associated Press |

Governor Fletcher says only time will tell if he will face a Republican challenger in next year's election.

The governor called the current problem within the state Republican Party "growing pains" and said Kentucky will be better off when the dust clears from the quote "politics of destruction" unquote.

Fletcher is facing three misdemeanor charges that he rewarded political supporters with protected state jobs.

Yet at a luncheon in Louisville this afternoon, Fletcher outlined his plans for a second term, including a health care initiative aimed at small businesses.

Fletcher said he's convinced he has enough support to win re-election next year, even as key state Republicans have distanced themselves from him.
