WBKO has learned a Metcalfe county woman who shot her son in the face, then killed herself had just filed an Emergency Protective Order against her boyfriend.
The incident happened on Tuesday, at 48-year old Sheila Rae McKay's residence in Edmonton.
The county clerk's office says, McKay filed an EPO just days before the shooting happened, and was scheduled to appear in court.
Police say her son was shot in the face, but was able to talk to investigators at the time of the incident.
The boy was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center, and at last check, the Sheriff's Department says he made it through surgery, and was doing okay.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials still say they don't have any clear motive.
