The Tennessee Valley Authority has set a power record.
The standard was set at five p-m C-D-T yesterday when electricity demand reached 32,037 megawatts as the average temperature across the valley hovered at 97 degrees.
This beat the previous mark set last July 26th by more than 100 megawatts.
T-V-A expects ever greater demand today and tomorrow.
The federal utility's coal-fired, nuclear, hydroelectric and alternative energy plants provide electricity to about 8-point-6 (M) million consumers in Tennessee and parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.
