Authorities say a 17-year-old confessed to sniper shootings on Indiana highways that killed a truck passenger and wounded another person.
Zachariah Blanton of Gaston is in the Jackson County Jail facing preliminary charges of murder, attempted murder and criminal recklessness.
The arrest follows a two-day search for the gunman that fired shots early Sunday morning at two pickup trucks on Interstate 65 near Seymour, killing a New Albany man.
About two hours later, bullets struck a moving semitrailer and a parked sport-utility vehicle on I-69 in Delaware County. No one was injured in those shootings.
State Police say Blanton admitted to the shootings during questioning, but a motive wasn't clear.
Blanton's friend alerted authorities to the teen. Detectives recovered a Remmington rifle from Blanton's home.
