A group of approximately 30 protestors attended a prayer vigil in front of Franklin Simpson Middle School to show support for Lonnie Winston.
Winston was one of four teachers at Franklin Simpson Middle School that lost their job after not meeting accreditation requirements. Louis Coleman, Executive Director of the Justice Resource Center in Louisville says it goes beyond the accreditation. He says Winston has been mistreated by the school district.
"His principle in an objective way phased him out of this school system. When African American males are as hard to find as hens’ teeth in a school system, this system decided to phase this gentleman out. This is what we're objecting to, and we're not through. We're going to continue to go to Frankfort and protest this man’s release by his principle."
