Last October, a Grand Jury indicted former Green/Taylor Water District Supervisor James Southern Senior for wanton endangerment, intimidation, and complicity to commit theft.
The indictment alleged Southern failed to issue necessary Boiled Water Advisories, paid insurance for Southern's son even though he was not an employee of the Water District, and tried to influence testimony of a witness.
All three defendants entered Alford Pleas to reduced misdemeanor charges, meaning although they do not admit any guilt, they realize there may be enough evidence for a jury to convict them. They were sentenced to 12 months in jail, probated to 24 months, and ordered to pay back the $46,000 spent on Junior's insurance.
