What police believe began as bad blood quickly turned into an out-of-control altercation in Morgantown. Authorities say they received the first report of violence around 7 p.m. Wednesday night.
Soon after reports of fights at three to four other locations around downtown Morgantown were reported, and sheriff's deputies along with Kentucky State Police troopers were called in to assist in breaking up the fight.
It took police nearly an hour to break up all of the fights, which involved nearly 500 teens and adults from Butler County and Ohio County.
Eight arrests were made with charges ranging from disorderly conduct to one count of attempted assault of a police officer.
Morgantown Police say they hope the violence is over, but they will be keeping a close eye on the town for the next several days.
