National Night Out Local Events

Residents here in Bowling Green will help give neighborhood crime and drugs a going away party today through a variety of block parties, ice cream socials, and potlucks in celebration of National Night Out.

Some of the area events include:

6:00-8:00p.m.- Westside Neighborhood Block Party hosted by Westside (St. Joseph) Neighborhood Watch groups and Bowling Green Parks and Recreation, at Westside Neighborhood Park located at Brownslock and Vine. This event will include free good, drinks, children's activities, and music by local karaoke legend, Ricky Beavers.

5:30-7:30p.m.- Old Barren River Road Area Neighborhood Party, co-hosted by Abel Court Apartments and First Apostolic Church, in the church parking lot at Old Barren River Road and Shannon Way.

5:30p.m.- Covington/Wakefield/Hampton Area Block Party, at Shelter #1 at Kereiakes Park.

5:30-8:30p.m.- Greystone Phase II Neighborhood Potluck & Block Party, 304 Red Maple Street.

6:00p.m.- Whispering Hills Neighborhood Potluck, at Shelter #1 at Preston Miller Park.

6:00p.m.- Spruce Trail & Spruce Court Neighborhood Potluck, in the 700 Block cul-de-sac of Spruce Court.

6:00p.m.- Circle & Clagett (Sunshine Gardens) Neighborhood Event at 1414 Circle Avenue.

6:00-8:00p.m.- Jennings Court Neighborhood Block Party, at end of Jennings Court.

6:00-7:30p.m.- Roselawn Neighborhood Ice Cream Social, at 912 Roselawn.

6:00-8:00p.m.- Shawnee Ice Cream & Dessert Potluck, at H.P. Thomas Park, off Debbie Drive in the Shawnee neighborhood.

This year, for the first time, Warren County is participating in National Night Out as well, with two events taking place outside Bowling Green's city limits. Those events are:

4:00-6:00p.m.- "Back to School Bash and Luau" in Hunters Crossing neighborhood, 726 Hunters Run Avenue.

Wednesday, August 2: "Back to School Bash" at Meadow Land Baptist Church on Detour Road.
