Area Educator Honored
A teacher at Gamaliel Elementary school is the Monroe County "Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year."

A teacher at Gamaliel Elementary school is the Monroe County "Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year."
Ellen Tandy teaches fourth and fifth grade science, and fourth grade art.
Gamaliel Elementary Assistant Principal Christie Biggerstaff says Tandy is a caring, and compassionate person who has dedicated countless hours to many after-school endeavors.
Tandy has helped coach Gamaliel's academic team, and served as the junior BETA sponsor for years.
She recently received a $1,000 check for being the "Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year."
