For five weeks this summer more than 200 area children will be participating in Camp T.J. A camp designed for children ages 3 to 21 with special needs. Therapists from T.J. Sampson Community Hospital in Glasgow work with children focusing on everything from social skills to coordination.
Jessica Casey, an occupational therapist and camp director, says the camp tries to focus on raising children's self-esteem and managing sensory perception. The kids say they are having fun designing tee shirts and making tornadoes in glass jars.
This is the third year for Camp T.J. It first started with ten kids meeting for one day and now 50 kids meet for a week. The camp goes to Barren, Warren, Hart, and Metcalfe counties and the city of Glasgow for a week.
