A worker who returned a day after being fired from an Alaska hospital and shot his ex-supervisors, killing one and critically injuring another, has been fatally shot by police.

Alaska state troopers say 48-year-old Joseph Marchetti fired shots Wednesday morning inside Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna.

Hospital spokeswoman Bonnie Nichols identified the victims as 55-year-old Mike Webb, who died two hours after the shooting, and 57-year-old Margaret Stroup, who was in critical but stable condition.

Nichols says the victims are the former supervisors of Marchetti, who was fired Tuesday from his job in the imaging department.

Soldotna is about 75 miles southwest of Anchorage.
