Franklin Gas Station Settles

A South Central Kentucky gas station has agreed to fines stemming from price gouging in the wake of Hurricane Katrina last fall.

A Franklin retailer, the Bluegrass Travel Plaza, LLC will pay $5,000 in penalties.

This comes after an investigation revealed some stores increased their profit margins by up to one dollar a gallon after the storm knocked out refineries along the gulf coast.

Ten gas stations across the state received $47,500 in fines last week for similar infractions; this now brings the total to $52,500.

A Bowling Green station is among those and a Scottsville station is now facing a lawsuit regarding this investigation.
