State treasurer Jonathan Miller says Kentucky’s unclaimed property will be auctioned on eBay beginning today.
The items being sold have been unclaimed for three years in bank safe-deposit boxes.
Miller says banks turn the items over to the state, and his office tries for at least three years to find their rightful owners.
Rare coins and pocket watches are some of the pieces of unclaimed property the state is auctioning.
The most valuable pieces are 18-karat and 24-karat pocket watches.
There are also old paper bills, estate jewelry and pocketknives with printed political slogans.
Miller says it's the state's intention to have the auction about every six months.
