Governor Fletcher has announced funds that will help cleanup 475 illegal open dumps in 56 counties in Kentucky.
Senate bill 50 passed by the 2006 General Assembly, converted the illegal open dump reimbursement program to a grant program.
Participating counties agree to provide a 25 percent match for dump clean-ups costing less than $50,000.
The illegal dump clean-up has been a continuing project in the Commonwealth for several years, using county and federal money.
Warren County Fiscal Court has received over $49,000, while Barren County received more than $20,000.
More than 2.8 million dollars in grants from the Kentucky Pride Fund were awarded throughout the state.
