A Lexington man is set to go on trial this week in Warren County for an Adair County triple murder that happened nearly 13 years ago.
Jury selection is scheduled for tomorrow for 33-year-old William Harry Meece.
Meece is charged with murder, robbery and burglary.
Prosecutors said he shot and killed Joseph, Beth, and Dennis Wellnitz at a farmhouse outside Columbia in 1993.
The Wellnitz's surviving daughter, Margaret Appleton, pleaded guilty in January 2005 to three counts of complicity to murder for the deaths of her mother, brother, and step-father and agreed to testify against Meece.
Appleton recanted her story this past July saying she had no knowledge of the murders until after they happened.
Meece had pleaded guilty to the shooting deaths of the Adair County veterinarian and his family, but then recanted his plea.
Commonwealth's Attorney Brian Wright says he will seek the death penalty against Meece.
