A Glasgow man is dead and his stepson is in jail after being charged with murder. Glasgow Police say around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, 22-year-old Adam Wood shot his stepfather Phillip Grinstead.
The shooting happened on North Race Street where Wood lives with his parents. Wood's mother, Ruth Grinstead, says her son was diagnosed with schozophrenia six months ago and needed help. Recently she says he had been attempting to purchase a gun. She recalls seeing her son get out of his car carrying the gun. He then entered the room and shot his stepfather.
Police say after Wood shot his stepfather. He fled to a nearby gas station and asked the attendant to call the police. Wood is now being held at the Barren County detention center.
Police and Family say they don't know why Wood shot his stepfather. His mother says her son had been in and out of four psychiatric hospitals. She says they could not afford to give Wood treament without more help from insurance.
