Rainy weather and cooler temperatures have some area farmers behind schedule.

Many farmers are just now starting to bail hay when usually by this time of year they are finishing up. The moist ground provides poor conditions for cutting and rolling hay.

Farmers say storing hay when it’s still wet can cause moldy and low protein hay. Farmers say they prefer to bail hay in dry heat at about 90 degree temperatures.
