City Passes Budget

The city commission held a special meeting Wednesday morning in order to pass the budget before the fiscal year begins. The commission passed a $53 million budget that starts July 1 and ends in June.

The budget gives city employees a four percent raise for full time employees. Part time employees will receive a raise of $0.30 per hour. Mayor Sandy Jones says it has been two years since employees have received a raise. Jones says the budget is essentially the same as last year's except for changes in payroll for city employees and an increase in health insurance costs.
