Kentucky State Police arrested Joshua William Cottrell, 21, of Leitchfield around 6 p.m. Friday night in connection with the murder of Richie Phillips, 36, of Rineyville.

Phillips was disappeared after having dinner with friends in Elizabethtown on June 17. Authorities found his truck abandoned in a parking lot in Harrison County, Indiana late last week. His wallet was also found in a creek near Rough River Lake at around the same time.

Wednesday night, two fishermen found a suitcase floating in Rough River Lake, and when they opened it, found a body inside.

Police identified the body as that of Phillips yesterday, and announced Friday afternoon that they were seeking Cottrell as a suspect due to tips from witnesses, and evidence found with the suitcase.

Cottrell remains in police custody, no word yet on a possible motive.
