The music industry disclosed plans for an escalation in its fight against Internet piracy.
No longer will the industry go after those running software programs like Napster, Kaaza, and Win-mx.
Nor will users simply be sent cease-and desist emails. The recording industry Association of America says it will start filing lawsuits against hundreds of individual computer users who illegally share their music files on the Internet. The RIAA urges users to un-install their music sharing software or be forced to pay the price.
