Health care facilities nationwide made major changes relating to patients privacy. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, better known as HIPAA is the largest federal regulation that has been developed to protect patients privacy.
However, HIPAA has put a damper on how some churches visit their members. Father Jerry Riney of Holy Spirit says he always felt an important part of the healing process was his religion.
Offices and institutions not complying with the law will face severe penalties.
